Francis S. Collins, MD, PhD Discusses Human Genome Project at the City Club of Cleveland (1996)
Before he became the current director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Francis Collins, MD, PhD directed the National Center for Human Genome Research, which became the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in 1997. As director, he oversaw the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium. On April 4, 1996, this renowned detective of genes discussed the implications and groundbreaking discoveries of the Human Genome Project in a speech he delivered to the City Club of Cleveland.
