What does it do? The pancreas secretes two kinds of hormones: 1. Digestive enzymes – these help break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into simple “building blocks” that give cells energy. 2. Insulin – the amount insulin produced by the pancreas regulates the glucose levels in the body. What is glucose? Glucose is a simple sugar and one of the most important building blocks of energy in the body!
